Visit us for a Kid’s Dental Cleaning in Cleburne

When you need to schedule a Kids Dental Cleaning in Cleburne – give us a call.

We focus on providing preventative care to children and do an excellent job of it.  Regardless of your child’s age, they will feel welcomed by our staff and comfortable while in our office.  We understand that the impressions of dentistry they develop today will stay with them into adulthood.  As such, we view dental care as a team effort and partner with you, to help get your child excited about oral health.

There are several reasons to bring your child in for a Kids Dental Cleaning in Cleburne

Number one among them – cavities.  Tooth decay is incredibly common.  So common in fact that the CDC states that it is the number one reason that children miss school on a regular basis.  The CDC also labels tooth decay as a leading infectious disease.  As a dentist, this is something that we understand all too well.  Many of our young patients suffer from tooth decay and it is our goal to eliminate this problem.  We can do so, in part, by keeping their teeth clean.  To understand the importance of dental hygiene, you must know how decay (cavities) form in the first place.

When your child eats and drinks sugary products, the sugar is deposited onto their teeth and gums.  The warm atmosphere of their mouth is a prime breeding ground for bacteria and when sugar is present, the bacteria can grow more quickly.  Plaque develops as a result and the plaque begins secreting an acid.  When teeth are strong, the acid will try to attack but fail as long as the plaque is removed as soon as possible. However, if the plaque remains on their teeth for too long, it can start to do damage, eventually making its way through the enamel and causing tooth decay.  This is why we recommend that children stay away from sugar and come in for a kid’s dental cleaning twice per year.  During these appointments, we can remove the plaque and tartar that was left behind when brushing at home.

By removing plaque, we can prevent common cavities and infections from forming.  If your child suffers from tooth decay between appointments, the decay will most likely be minor and easily treatable.  All we need to do is numb the area, remove the decayed portion of the tooth and restore it with a tooth-colored dental filling.  When the decayed area is small, this happens relatively quickly and painlessly.  The key is to bring them in for a Kids Dental Cleaning on a regular basis so that it is possible to identify and treat issues early on.  Doing so will not only make their overall treatment time shorter but it will prevent them from experiencing a toothache or discomfort prior to coming in.  Overall, preventative care is a win-win for your child and will work wonders in keeping him or her healthy.
